I hate seeing all the "empowered" women on TV being so ridiculously sexualized, too. Being an asexual young lady in my early teens, I wish I could find more female characters that were tough and didn't really care about sex. It disappoints me that, despite how kickass characters like Inara from Firefly and Irene from Sherlock can be, I don't actually have lady heroes to identify with because so many of them are rooted in sex.
funnily enough, i JUST watched that episode of Sherlock last night.
She seems like a tough cookie so OF COURSE they had to also make her a person that makes every. line. sexual. she’s been thrown in there for titillation which is frustrating.
I was told beforehand that the writers for that show don’t seem to know how to write female characters, so i should have seen that coming!
i feel your pain :(
