Call For Submissions!

closer-than-heaven:

I am currently working on a zine surrounding the topic of childhood sexual assault/abuse/trauma survivorship.

If you have anything to say as a survivor, via art, word, design, etc. that you would be interested in seeing shared with other survivors I would really appreciate the support and to get to share your work with the greater community of survivors. 

I will be working with a senior member of the sexual assault prevention/activism community in Arcata, CA (at Humboldt State University) to edit and prepare the zine for self publishing and distributing to a small community of survivors in the area through various support outlets. I will also make available as many copies to those who submit as I can afford to send/are requested in the original submission.

What I am accepting:

  • Written submissions: Short essays, poems, letters, etc. Please make sure these are in Word or Open Office formats. Censorship is not necessary although please identify the presence of possibly triggering content. It is important to note that while I will try to use the most and as varied of sources as possible, items likely triggering to a range of individuals will be excluded.
  • Art: All visual art is welcome for submission. Please make sure the file is in a .jpg or other commonly accessible format. 
  • Quotes, Graphic Design (photoshop work) etc. is also welcome for submission.

How to Submit:

  • email submissions to sdc58@humboldt.edu
  • Please Put “Zine Submission” in the subject line
  • If you would like to request a copy of the finished product, please put a way to contact you (via tumblr, email, etc) when it is finished (several weeks).
